June 23, 2006 - P3DO pro 1.8.4 is here

Now with Poser Poses support, P3DO pro 1.8.4 is completed.

1.8.4 new features are:
- 3D: Poser Poses (without animation)
- 3D: BVH preview and animation (media bar with loop button)
- 3D: Completed Renderware RWX viewer, with latest AW 4.1 features (PNG & GIF textures with transparency)
- 3D: UV Map viewer (ability to save the texture Map)
- 3D: Vue files now show the version number.
- 2D: Rsr2Png with a new wizard for updating all Poser Runtimes at once
- 3D: PoserPython with updated Prpc script
- 2D: Alpha channeled preview (free) and an alpha channel viewer
- 2D: File association for all kind of supported file formats (free)
- 2D: Zip thumbnails for every kind of supported picture (free - Zipped files thumbnails and zoom being a pro feature).
- 2D: A save as function for pictures, with format conversion and color depth change (free)
- 2D: RSR/PNG editor has been improved
- 2D: An image information window for quick access to basic image properties (free)
- 2D: Zoom focus ruled has been reviewed so that Fit options always fit the Zoom window viewport
- As always new menus, new options and fixes.

There's something else new with this release. A Bones Templates button in InDepth Window and a Templates folder under P3dO root directory. Those templates are used to actually show the Poser Poses skeletons in P3dO, they are nothing more than stripped CR2s. We provide with 2 templates (1 for Posette like characters, 1 with Victoria like ones). This may be enough for most human Poses since most Poser figures belongs to one of those family. You can create missing templates with the new Poser plugin Skelly. Since it is onlty aimed at people wanted to make Bones Templates Skelly is not part of Poser plugins pack and must be downloaded separetely.

Next update is scheduled in September/October it'll be P3dO 1.9.
I intend to complete what is left from 1.8.4:
- Carrara support : Thumbnailer and Scene Manager.
- Vue d'Esprit for Scene Manager.
- Project manager : will restore former "Expand on startup" function but on a Project basis.

And also:
- Add new 3D file formats (at least: COB, LWO, 3DS).
- Add a mass picture converter.
- Greatly improve the Catalogue print.
- Improve the Poser viewer.

May 26, 2006 - P3dO pro 1.8.4 beta 2 with BVH animation

It has been a long time since I wanted to add character animation to P3dO. Today is a great day.

Content of 1.8.4 is detailed in June 23rd announce.

Next update will focus on :
- 3D: Poser Poses animation

Since a complete skinned viewer would be too slow the Poser Poses animation will be a skeletal one (like the BVH viewer). However, a CR2/PZ3 animation will also be available later.
Some other features are also under progress like:
- Carrara support : I've been asked for long to do this. Thank to eovia's support I think I should be able to complete the thumbnailer in May.
- Carrara and Vue for Scene Manager.
- Project manager : will restore former "Expand on startup" function but on a Project basis.

Next 1.8.4 beta updates (final update being scheduled in 2/3 weeks).

Here is the first of our 1.8.4 updates (final update being scheduled for the end of May).

April 14, 2006 - P3dO 1.8.4 announcement

The 1.8.4 beta will soon be available. This update explore new dimensions : Alpha Blending, UV Mapping, and 3D animation.

This is indeed a good little update making P3dO pro an even more productive tool.
We will do the same with 1.8.4 that we did with 1.7.8/1.8 : updating the soft throughout a month. So we will update 1.8.4 every 2 weeks in may with final release scheduled at the end of may.
